Nearly did a SMIDSY

I definitely like the light - tried taking some photos of it but didn't set the camera to record each one with the same settings but if I upload them you can see in comparison to my old one.

Here is a go at the lights - the 1st is one of my old ones - didn't manage to get both old ones and the new one on at the same time. Bare in mind that I quite liked my old light and felt with 2 on the bike they were OK to see by at the speeds I cycle on the type of roads I cycle (with street lamps).

So as you can see quite a jump up for me... now I need to work out how to run a proper test. I have 1 smart on the rear together with a BLT one that I like.

I stand corrected. You're absolutely right. I couldn't find a scrap of evidence to back up my flimsy theory that minimising distractions to all senses is the safest option. I believe I was labouring under the discredited notion once known as "common sense".
In light of the indisputable scientific evidence of Bent Mikey's theory "Listening to music while riding makes no difference to safety and in some cases actually improves visual activity" I will withdraw my comments and say I know when I'm beaten.

Following my superior's logic I will from now on ride without a helmet as those that do aren't using their protective cranial bones enough.

To be fair the thread was about someone with no lights and dressed in dark clothing.Headphones on or off wouldn't have made him any more visible would it?
As long as you are constantly looking around and have a modicum of road sense you should be perfectly safe with music on. all IMHO.

Good lights, a helmet and no Ipod is how I roll and for me that is right, for the rest of you, make your own choices, I recommend my approach but there are others that may work as well for you if not better.

Those dodgy cars and their damn stereos, we see them in ditches all the time because they listen to radio 1.

Seriously though, although I would never ride with earphones again because I feel cut off from the world, many people don't and manage fine.
