..about the new series of Dr Who tomorrow. For some reason, not as excited as in the last few years.

Although I'm happy to give Matt Smith a chance, I reckon he could be good, if he doesn't overdo the gurning astonished expression, but... it's not the same.

Still, it's a bit creepy seeing that trailer showing at the moment and a Dalek in khaki and a little union flag on it.

My daughter got back from Uni today. We vanish north tomorrow to see my old mum. First thing daughter says to me is "Can you record Dr Who dad?" (In case she misses up North as Granny isn't into Dr Who)

Granny/Mum was when I was little............... Indeed a Xmas party was interrupted so us little ones could all watch Daleks before going back to the party

So eventually you do grow out of it. Perhaps you are beginning down that road

i must admit such trepidation when christopher eccleston morphed into david tennant. needless to say, t'was only a momentary thing.

as the chief writer for this series is the one who wrote "blink" (the scary statues one), i think we're in for decent episodes…

I was the same,CE was so good I could not see anyone being in his league-how wrong was I?
Never heard of this nrw one but who knows could be the best of the lot.

I think for me there's a certain amount of grumping on account of his age. I know David Tennant was technically younger than me. Ok, yes, he's younger than me, but this new chap is sooooooo young. It's like when policemen start looking young.

I just hope they don't go too far down the youth appeal route.

For me the DR I liked best was Jon Pertwee,just looking now and he was 51 when he took over,can't imagine someone of that age ever getting the role in this day and age.

Me too. The idea that it is the last time we'll have to put up with all the trailers for it has got me quite emotional.

Season 1 was great. About half way through season 2, I realised what had been "Lost" was my will to live.

That's what happens when a 3 series show gets dragged out for 6.

Unfortunately, it is still a part of my existence as Mrs Norm watches it. I don't have to concentrate, though, usually finding something banal to do on the computer and just glancing up when the on-screen scenery is worthy of attention.

I switched off when Tennant took over. Thought he was far, far too silly in the role. Much preferred Eccleston in the role. He brought an adult quality to it, when Tennant was aimed squarely at the giggly-girlie fan base.
