It's got Suntour xcr 120mm forks that I will probably use to!

Not much of an upgrade against what you already have, but an upgrade all the same

For the price, £40 I'll take it for now.

Ill use the cranks, pedals and forks then sell the frame on

Then I can just keep an eye out for better forks as an when a bargain pops up and sell the Suntour ones on!

I've got home XCR forks in the shed, and I'd happily pay someone to bury them in an unmarked grave. Hateful things.

As for the rest of the project, looking gewd.

I cant see very well what you have right now, but they seem to be from the XCx series, all horrible.

Less travel, lighter, likely no more or less stiff. Fair chance you'll find the existing forks no worse than your considered replacements.

Well I just picked it up the crank looks perfect
I think you're right about the forks there's no movement in them whatsoever I might take them apart and grease them up but I don't think I'm going to use them

Chuck um

If you ever manage to get them apart, I doubt they would go back together easy

Ok ill bin the forks, will keep a eye out for a bargin.

Turns out the info on halfords was wrong the BB is 68 by 113mm
The one i just picked up in the frame is knackered anyway so just gonna fit the cranks to my BB, cant go that wrong...can it? Ha

I might pick up a shorter BB at some point

The chain keeps coming off!!!

Its exactly the same size and 32t as the middle ring on the original crank, any ideas why this is happening? Chain line maybe?

The higher the gear the worse it gets

Doing my head in!!!

Does your rear mech have a clutch ?

If not the chain will continue to come off (even with a NW chainring) unless you use some kind of chain keeper on the front

That chainline is a little strange too, but the 113mm bb should sort that out

BTW: you should check your chainline, with the chain on the middle gear (or near as) of the sprocket

If it looks straight there, you are OK

No clutch on the rear mech

New BB and chainring should be here towards the end of week hoping that brings the chainline in a bit

I'll take a picture of it later in the middle rear ring
