Both phones have NFC. That's how I'd (advise your 15 yo relative to) do it through enabling it in both Settings menus. The easiest of peasyness.

Sorry - it's a communications protocol. Basically you can let them talk to each other and share all their secrets :

I've gone from an S5 to an S8 and plugged both together and everything went over to the new phone.

There was even a quick start booklet in the S8 box that described how to do it.

Plug an play, easy peasy!.

Yes and no. It will reload all your apps, games and anything saved in the cloud when you log into your Google account. Smart switch will transfer all your texts, contacts, calendar, alarms, S notes etc. Between both of them it will set your phone back up to almost where your old phone was.
