I almost always find tyres a bugger to fit to road bikes, but it has never taken *that* long!

And I have never had to resort to talc or Fairy.

To update the thread:

Excellent service from wiggle who price matched and delivery was very good as usual in my experience.

Now for the wheels themselves. I have only managed some 22 miles as of yet. The immediate difference I noticed is the ride is a lot smoother and the bike seems to just ride better. Also, I don't have any weird noises coming from the bike anymore which would indicate that the freehub on the old rims had not been at its best since the bike was pretty much new.

As for noticing weather the bike is any faster, I don't really know! The ride I did was in a 35mph wind so it's difficult to say. But overall I'm happy with them other than getting tyres onto them which is a bit of a pain!
