I'm another fan of Anish Kapoor's work. I haven't seen any of his pieces live, but I have seen him interviewed several times and he is an intelligent, thoughtful and articulate artist.

So are most of the other greats, given the right forum to explain their work. Even Damian Hirst and Tracey Emin.
Strewth. The man is a muppet. And Hirst with him. They talk about 'ideas' when they mean chance and co-incidental formal arrangements. There's no more art in a Kapoor or a Hirst than there is in the average bunch of flowers.

Do you mean to say that this isn't the finest representation of the female form since Henry Moore?

I bet you wouldn't turn down the chance to go up it once (if) it gets built

Google Spinnaker tower.....

Portsmouth's phallic symbol, late, over budget, paid for by the taxpayer due to incompetence and the lifts still don't work tan years after the original planned completion date

I suspect this will be the same

Kapoor's installation at the Baltic in Newcastle just before they rebuilt it was wonderful. Some of his other work has impressed me a lot less. And I'm not too bothered if he's articulate or not; the work should speak for itself. And unfortunately, this tower doesn't so much speak as shout incoherently.

Another popular/or not piece of street furniture has been taken down. The B of the Bang. I thought it was excellent* but know a few folk who disagree.

I'm not sure about this one but would have to see it when it's finished, not that my opinion counts for much

* looked good, if not quite up to the job.

There's some good bits in Vancouver, an upside down church and an aluminium shed are what I remember most.
