I think it would be fairer. You're not telling me that thousands, or even tens of thousands of people that are saying they don't need one aren't sneaking a quick watch of something or using vpn,s etc and the rest of us end up paying more each year to cover this.

No doubt the aim of the Sky Comcast ITV purchase is to bring Comcast style subscriptions to us all.
So £1000+++++ subscriptions for most, not just the current few.
They are certainly betting big on further BBC demise, it being a main stopper of US style bills.
I cannot see how stuff like the world cup can stay affordable/free if the BBC now has to pay an even bigger share to procure even less.

I don't think that would be allowed.
The licences for ITV are Public Service Broadcasting licences, which require it to be free to air AIUI.
And while the current licences expire in 2036, I doubt OFCOM is going to give licences without that requirement.

That's my view as well, we don't watch much but occasionally binge something when there's a new drama out. And there's also a huge number of BBC radio stations that we;ll listen to from time to time, that's all got to be paid for

There isn't, but it happens. I use a questionable firestick but I still pay for a TV license. Which might sound daft, but I still believe that for all its flaws, the Beeb is well worth the money.
One thing I've noticed recently both on radio and TV is that they've been thanking license fee payers, which is lovely but also worrying if their funding is knackered, or not in a great state.
