Handed the steed into my LBS on Friday (BB problem) and hope to get it back today.

I forgot how much of a P.I.T.A. it is travelling by train....Very warm, with people coughing and spluttering all over the place. :headshake:

I'm sooo looking forward to getting back on the bike!

This is a very good reason to do either or both of the following:

a) have another steed available for when the first is out of commission. This also caters for meeting the first round of the n+1 requirement.

:headshake: do your own maintenance, but know your limits. I leave headsets well alone as I don't have a press, but am happy to tackle almost all other tasks. Mind you this has been built up over the last few years. 5 years ago I would get an LBS to change a puncture

Can you get a good selection of punctures then;)

+1 on the workshop thing, I'll tackle a few jobs, mostly spit and polish but wont go near anything that I consider too technical....not yet any how.

But I tend to give Chitty a good "tweak" each weekend (gears, derailer, brakes etc)

Didn't you know? H*lf*rds do a fantastic selection from thorn through to pinch, I even managed to get a double pinch when they had the stock delivered.

The biggest boost to my confidence was support from online groups plus reading the relevant sections on Sheldon & Parks websites before tackling a job

I thought you never touched Chitty in case the auto changer broke!

I've got soo much to learn!!

Yep, you're right....I worked up the courage to clean out the rear cassette a month ago and have started to "phase" in my involvement...still a little worried about upsetting her, but she seems to be looking after me, so perhaps my amateur fumblings are appreciated!
I'd never go as far as "changing" something (untill I really need to...fingers crossed)

Is she still auto-changing gear correctly?

Update...P'd Off

Latest...

They couldn't replicate the fault, but agreed to replace the BB with a slightly upgraded one.

I picked up the bike yesterday evening and within about 2 minutes, the same loud clicking from the BB area.

Handed it back in today...mechanic phoned the manufacturer (Spesh) and will look at it again today.
I sincerely hope it's not a frame fault...though if it is, at least I'll get a new frame out of it.

Anyway...I'm off for a coffee...after which I will be locking myself in a quiet room for the rest of the working day.
