How far south can you be and still legally have gravy on chips?

No-one seems to have heard of it in Northampton but I used to enjoy it 'oop norf' when I travelled there. (And they were cheaper!)

Great cod, chips and gravy made from beef bones in Rochester the other month. The woman in the chippy gave me a discount on account of me being from the same part of the north as her too. Well worth the 80-odd mile round cycle!
