Not a great start... crash no 1

Second ride of the year, first crash. First crash ever come to think. Out this am in the sun up above Holmfirth when I came across another cyclist walking his bike up the hill. I slowed to see if he needed help but as I crossed the lane to his side, into the shade, I went straight down on black ice and slid up to his feet. Turned out he was about to warn me about the ice. Bike is OK, I'm banged up, elbow and hip and cut about a bit (how does this happen without tearing clothes...?) BUT my new Rapha overshoes that were a Christmas pressie from the missus have a hole in them....mighty pished off.

That's just bad luck, best to get it out of the way early.. Low sun, black ice, a combination almost guaranteed to get anyone, however good their bike handling, into a sitting position! Shame about the very expensive (possibly overpriced) Rapha kit though.

Ice in frozen gutters on roads but crowns relatively clear- cross cambers dangerous so had to go much slower this morning.

Cheers All, just been out for a quick spin to check that everything is still working, happy to report all seems well. Hole is overshoes is smaller than I thought and Rapha should be able to repair it anyway. Repairs are FOC and they even send you a post paid addressed bag.

Just need to fix up my elbow and hip now and I'll be set to go again.
