i was due to have my bike set up for me at my lbs tomorrow morning, late this afternoon I had a call from them stating that they couldn't do the bike fit tomorrow as they didn't have the staff to cover and that they had only just seen it in the diary.

Really ?????

I booked it in at the end of August before I went off to Amsterdam !!!!

They can't get it in now until the end of the week or early next week, which is not great as I am away in Barcelona for a few weeks (and therefore unable to ride)

Without sounding like a right old misery-guts, time is against me with the summer and light nights coming swiftly to a close, and then these clowns mess me about. !!

..............and breathe !!!!

Every LBS seems massively busy..all the time.

The last resort for me was when they suggested 'I did i myself' ^_^

So I have done ever since ....their loss.

I am lucky that I have the choice in which customers I do work for, some of the one's I steered away were a big pain.

Local bike shops are just like any other shop I reckon - some good, some bad. I always think it's best to try to use a lbs in the first instance though to support local business in the area. If they turn out to be cack, I'll use Evans/Halfords etc.

I'm lucky though - my lbs is ace

Last time i was in my LBS a couple came in to pick up a bike they reserved but not put a deposit on . They kicked off big time when they where told it had been sold  . I think i would last about 15 minutes if i worked in one

When I was a pup my lbs was Alan Shorter, my latest Lbs assured me I would never get my reclaim back wheel with 10 spd campag cassette, and shimano RD working with my down tube changer. He was wrong, never darkened his door since
