Funny that on your deleted post you said

"I don't think anyone claimed it was homophobic"

I know I said that, but it probably isn't 'homophobic' as such - there are far worse exapmples than this out there. I'm sure it could be argued by some that it was though. As I have repeatedly said, it is a tired old stereotype that should be confined to the waste bin of history. Unless of course you think it is funny to laugh about homosexuals being camp and wearing lycra in the 21st century - in which case, carry on.

shoot I thought I was a grumpy old git, but some of you take the biscuit, being offended on somebody else's behalf
If we're not allowed to get offended on other people's behalf, am I only allowed to be offended by jokes about straight white men? Because that basically makes me Donald Trump.

I'm pretty sure I already said that I'm not offended by it. I must have mentioned it on at least two occasions on this thread - three, including this one.

It wasn't particularly aimed at you but as the saying goes 'If the cap fits' s you clearly recognise yourself

As I keep saying 'p' - I wasn't offended. Just disappointed that such a tired old stereotype is trotted out yet again.

But that's the joke...that the stereotype is being presented as being relevant and indicative.

I'm glad you think so mate - I just think it's not very classy, not very incisive, not very relevant and bascally just a clumsy, sh1t joke all round. There are so many ways you could have done a better job with that topic.

Okay, so you've moved from it being 'homophobia' and 'bigotry' to a poorly constructed joke which you don't find funny. Quite a difference, don't you think? And that's a perfectly reasonable opinion to offer. Don't hesitate to get in touch if you think you can do better. Always looking for new talent.

Not really. It certainly smacks of homophobia and bigotry, which is why I used words like 'tacit' earlier in the thread.

I know I could do better, but don't be waiting by the phone or anything

Oh, I realise I'm not likely to be that fortunate. But I can dream.
