Almost at the end of my tether, after trying 2 cycle fits and 8 different saddles i can still only cycle for 1.5 miles before my legs start to go numb. I have no interest in a recumbent so thats out of the question, besides chucking cycling in which i really dont want to do as id love to do a triathlon some day, where the hell do i go from here?

All suggestions gratefully recieved
Regards
John

Have you tried a Brooks yet, sounds unfeasible but soft/padded saddles are less comfy than a leather saddle for me anyway.

Hi there, yes ive tried a B17 and had high hopes for it as i figured rather then me adapting to the saddle, itd be better the saddle adapting to me - Unfortunately it hasnt worked out so far, ive applied the greasy goo to get it supple but its still not helping

When you say legs go numb,
Which part of the leg exactly go numb?
Do you get that in any other position or activity?
Its down the full leg, but seems to be down the back of the legs, ive tried no end of tweaks and adjustments but to no avail, its so frustrating!

That sounds like sciatica as in a trapped nerve

Numbness is caused when a nerve is either damaged, irritated or compressed.
When cycling for a long period, it almost invariably compress the perineal area. That is why it is common to get some numbness on the area around penis.

If you have numbness down the back of the leg, that means nerve is irritated or compressed. There are two main areas that could happen. One is when the nerves leave the spinal code, meaning some problems in your spinal discs.
Other is when the big nerve, femoral nerve is trapped when it leaves the pelvic cavity.
Therefore what is required is a good neurological assessment. Need to understand whether you have lost sensation in some areas etc.
Ideally this should be done by a good GP with or without the help of physiotherapist.
Choice is yours but if I were you, I will go and tell the GP what I told you.
Or if you can find a good physio who can do a good examination.

By the way do you have Diabetes?

Id personally forget a GP for any back issue, unless it's just to get a physio or specialist referral. But definitely seek medical advice, that isn't a normal cycling related ail to happen so quickly

A particularly inept GP almost landed me in a serious state after being unable to equate severe sciatica with a slipped disc. Legacy is a big scar and a numb calf, 21 years and counting...

I agree with vickster's comment.

That is why I qualified what I said by adding a good GP.

Provide the necessary information to the GP, that why you don't think this is cycling related issue.

For me, a good GP is one who knows when to refer. In this case, it should be quickly

Are you a medic yourself?

@jaybeex2 I would be slightly concerned that two professional bike fitters didn't pick up on this

I think thatll be my next step as no amount of bike setup seems to help. I have no numb issues at any time other then when cycling
