Or even do what I've disciplined myself to achieve - eat the same crap, just a lot blummen less of it!

Only problem with that is poor quality food can cause inflammation and health problems even if you're not eating that much of it.

My tongue was somewhat on my cheek.

The odd cake, the occasional Subway lard-O-matic, the rare doughnut, will not hurt in careful and considered moderation. Hence, just eating less of the blummen stuff is a good starting point. I had a small fruit and nut bar last night, but it was the first bit of choc in 10 days. The only thing those 7 squares of delicious confectionary inflamed were my taste buds.

Plate sizes have expanded. Have some new side plates which are almost as big as am old dinner plate to the point I have occasionally used them as dinner plates.

That's supposed to be one of the things that work for some people.......eating off a smaller plate. Just psychological I suppose, but it seems more satisfying to see a small plate covered with food rather than a large plate just with what looks like a small amount of food on it.

When I had a kitchen fitted in 2020 replacing a 1993 one the designer said, "you can't have those cupboards as narrow as the old ones, you won't be able to store dinner plates"

I wasn't aware there are rare species of Doughnut.

Could not agree with you more. We have some squarish dinner plates which we have had for many years. We want to replace them, simples you would think? No. Everything we look at is way too big, some side plates are nearer the size. My wife eats very little and having one of these huge plates makes her meal look measly in portion.

Have that problem. New dinner plates sit on top of the microwave.
Kitchen is on its last legs, 36 years old. Put new doors and drawers fronts on around 10 years ago.
Not sure I would like deeper cupboards.

I didn’t need the study. I taught swimming for school classes for long enough. At first you had the fat kid in a class, when I finished it was one third of the class - some to the point where I’d consider it ‘child abuse’. The teachers could only think of their and their families feelings, and didn’t want to rock the boat.

Could it be there are fewer medical and social consequences to being overweight?

They'll just stick them on weight loss drugs in the future with all the side effects from that!
