Scummer vs Skate baiting aside, I'd probably go down the same route and use the Ridley on the turbo and for the odd ride when the R3 has just been cleaned or needs some bits. Keep the Cube for emergency spares/pub bike because it'll be worth nowt second-hand.

I thought about a Cervelo (an S5) when I was in the market but went for a Canyon instead. Lovely looking bikes though.

While I'm on, you couldn't see to dropping a few divisions again could you? The traffic when the Doris drags me to West Quay on a match day is terrible fierce.

Tried the Ridley on the Bkool. The gap between the seatstays is much narrower and it just doesn't feel right. Jury is out on keeping it as a turbo bike. It's a very lightweight frame for a four year old bike and its got Ksyrium Elite wheels, which are utterly wasted on the trainer.

Got to say it was a lot more fun when the Skates were in a similar football firmament as us. However, there was no sympathy shown prior to Leibherr from the wrong end of the M27 so as a far as most of are concerned, the 'blue few' can rot in hell with their fan ownership and the like. It's never personal though I've come across a good few Pompey fans who are good company, but misguided and few Saints fans who are just cnuts

scrap a perfectly ridable bike you say?

how does that work?
It doesn't. It is too good to scrap, but I am inherently lazy. Can'y be arsed to do ebay. Also can't be arsed to fettle it myself, or in truth give it to LBS to bring up to scratch. I have three bikes and one arse. I can only ride one bike at a time and the chances are I'll always go for the best one.

I have many more than three bikes. Many more than three times three. In fact slightly more than three times three plus three.

The best one though? Well that depends on where I'm going, who I'm going with, and how I want to get there, et cetera.

The OSH is kicking in I have to confess, however if I'm doing a sportive (possibly once or twice a year) then It'll be done on the best bike. All my other riding is pretty much as a 'lone wolf weekend warrior' and will done on my best bike. I can't be arsed to go beyond the garage in the winter, and if I did go out it'll be on the Cervelo, because................................ Put simply, given my riding, the Ridley is not going to get ridden

for me, the trick has been to maintain a fleet of very different bikes with as little overlap, in what I can only call 'vibe', as possible.

So spent £120 getting Cube fettled at LBS. Sweat damage on paintwork only superficial. Ideal as turbo bike and hack. Ridley in LBS on sale for £550 with brand new wheels and tyres. Will invest in aero wheels in Spring from proceeds along with those from Ksyrium Elites, if and when I can sell them. Thinking Fulcrum Racing Quattro Carbon.

Like Grumpy, I've always tried to keep a bit of separation between bikes, but I still have two that I really should sell on. There's no point keeping stuff that's not being used.

Make sure you keep a set of good non-aero wheels though. This year I treated myself to a Canyon Aeroad (first new bike in 8 years, so don't judge me) which came with Mavic Cosmic Carbones. Admittedly they're quite an old design and more prone than newer wheels to cross-winds, but even so they've pursuaded me that aero rims and gusts don't mix.

Good luck against the Villa tomorrow.

Well that went well. Couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo this pm. Should have put 4 past a crap Villa side in first 15 mins.
Thanks for the advice. I am now down to two bikes. Cervelo R3 Di2 has sub 1400g Ksyrium SLRs so have great non-aero wheels. The aero wheels may well be Fulcrum Racing Quattro Carbon Clinchers or American Classic Carbon 40s
