Baywatch's Pamela Anderson was actually Jon Anderson from the prog dinosaur band Yes. He already had the long blonde locks, and a couple of melonds shoved into a bra revived his flagging career. Sadly, this money making wheeze went badly awry, as the infamous Tommy Lee sex video was to show.

Baywatch was filmed in Barry Island, but where driven off the set by Gavin and Stacey.

They later moved filming to Porthcawl - the land of Elvis Tributes and faked moon landings

Barry was so named as a certain Mr Manilow lived there until he saw sense and moved to Palm Springs. Superficially, they look like the same place, but once you get past the swaying palm trees, you can tell where you really love to live..

Palm springs was originally named Palm and her 5 sisters because the town was full of onanists. The reputation was deterring her new business, but suspension manufacturer Boge relocated there and the town was renamed Palm Springs in its honour.

Elastomer forks originally used knicker elastic. If riders required a stiffer spring they used crusty eleastic from an old pair of Y fronts.

Y fronts were invented to be a multi purpose garment. When they became too crusty and itchy to have against ones genitalia the Y shaped arangement is designed to enabke them to be folded into either a hat, cardigan, or oven gloves.

Early helmets were also made out of old y fronts. The idea being that the y front would repel all other objects in the event of a crash.

Crashing was invented, like so many things, by the French. By WWII they werre getting a lot of heat for capitulating to any passing aggressor with a funny handshake and comedy moustache, so they realised their surrendering days were over. Crashing was invented ao they could capitulate during racing competitions of any kind while making it look heroically accidental.

This is perhaps just as well as when German competitors got to the finish line they inevitably went around the end and through the Ardennes instead of across it.

Ardennes was also known for it's paté. Once France decided that 'the only way to beat them was join them' and teamed up with Germany, effectively cutting of Belgium from the known world, the Belgers took over the paté manufacturing business and named their Capital city after it.

In a bid to upgrade his nickname, Belgian hard man Jean-Claude Van Damme was set to play the lead role in a remake of The Guns of Navarone. However, the International Federation of Bodybuilders vetoed the moniker as The Muscles' 'guns' were 1cm short of the required circumference - and the film never happened.
