Serge Gainsbourg just existed in a space somewhere beyond that inhabited by other more ordinary human beings. I absolutely love his version of the French national anthem done in a reggae style, 'Aux armes et cetera', calculated to piss off the nationalist right in France:

I also love Serge Gainsbourg. I don't believe Aux Armes Et Cetera ever troubled the UK charts, so is slightly outside the remit of this thread but always worth an excuse to hear it anyway, so thanks, FM.

Same goes for my favourite Gainsbourg track but I'll post it anyway because it is very odd - I mean, how often do you hear songs about the existential angst of a ticket inspector on the Paris Metro? Quite brilliant though...
