Might not have got payed on Friday if it went up.

Mind you we got pretty used to things going bang and molten metal flying around but even Roddy (the owner) was a bit pale when he saw the ring in the (still soft) Brass where the cylinder had stood as 2 of the other lads were breaking up the pool of metal before it had set, the offices were quite close to the casting 'floor' where the furnace was.

Riding a rollercoaster. I didn't want to, but was persuaded to give it a go. I'd have paid any amount of money to make it stop so I could get off. Never again.
I know you think we don't have anything in common, but the same here. Blackpool Pleasure Beach,1974. My older brother finally persuaded me to go on the big dipper. He said you should scream to release the tension if you don't like the experience. I screamed all the way round:ohmy:. When the thing stopped i looked round and nearly everyone on board was sniggering at me,

I don't suppose you've been to Blackpool by any chance Tiny?

On the subject of scary things. I've only been on a motorbike once and that was enough. A friend at the hospital i worked at in the early 1980's offered me a ride on his 900cc motorbike. He started off gently, going round the hospital grounds then we went on the country lanes around the hospital. He must've reached 100 mph, with me gripping him around the waist in total fear:ohmy:. How can anyone enjoy that?! I haven't been on a motorbike since and have no plans to do so ever again!:stop:
I once one xmas while walking with my wife and friends and their wives on the beach decided I would show how tough I was by going in for a swim - so I stripped off and went in, I knew when I got to about knee depth it was a big mistake, but I wasn't backing out so I just dived into a deep bit. To this day I have no idea what went wrong but I was unable to breath, I sort of got to my feet and staggered out of the water in a terrible state, I don't know what went wrong with my heart/lungs but it was seriously horrible x 1000. Anyway, evryone just fell about the place laughing at me, nobody took my predicament seriously, apparently my willy (which isn't very big at the best of times) must have taken a bigger fright than me and had shrunk to well less than an inch (so they tell me)

Seriously though, just taking your clothes off and diving into the north sea in the middle of winter is far from a wise thing to do. apparently these folk in russia who break the ice to go in have acclimatised there bodies to do it over many years.
I've always wondered why some folk claim to enjoy ice cold baths/showers,swimming in icy seas, rolling around semi naked in the snow etc. I tried it once, turning my shower down to number 4,but i didn't last long.:surrender:

134M bungee jump and skydives. So glad I did them, but will not do again. Some memories are more sacred if they are not revisited.

I was also speaking to a family some time ago who said they'd been to Disney Orlando for a once in a lifetime trip, and have been 5 times since!

Something similar with me. Was out for a fine walk in the Brecon Beacons by a river, the Twrch if anyone knows it. It was a sunny day and a romantic and isolated spot so we decided to have a dip in a rock pool. I jumped in first - ooo, that's a good bit colder than I expected - man up, it'll be alright in a minute then I had the gasping / can't breath thing and whilst trying to climb out I imagined the coroner's report "middle aged man has heart attack whilst trying to impress new girlfriend".

I seriously looked into buying a Ferrari a number of years ago but was talked out of it by my girlfriend at the time. That's likely the reason she's an ex!

Sold for £25,000 ten years ago, now making £85,000. Mind you I imagine most of us of a certain age and above have sold things or chucked things that would make a comfortable penny now.

I'd certainly never try and walk along a long narrow edge whislt carrying an Barrs Irn Bru bottle like I did on January 8th 1983. DAMHIK

I still have restrictive movement and nerve damage to this day following severing tendons and nerves in the fall.
