Dad had one of those, too, albeit a bit before my time. He traded it in for a Super Minx estate. He was something of a Rootes man.

When i was little my Dad had the Commer Cob version ( The Van) fitted windows in the back, and a rear seat, it towed the caravan all over the place, was pretty reliable, despite having starship mileage on it, I think it had been round the clock at least twice!

I need to download some flash drives from old cameras. I was working in Uruguay mid 2000s and saw lots of interesting old cars including what I believe was a 1910 Rugby (from memory) it seemed many people there take them out in the evening to enjoy the ride.
If it was a Rugby(sketchy memory), I've often wondered if it was an American manufacturer, it seemed there were lots of them in the early days of motor cars.

They were, apparently, part of a vintage car rally yesterday in Telford. Had diverted by themselves to visit the museum.

Spent a very pleasant afternoon at the British Motor Museum in Gaydon today. Last time I visited was about 10 years ago when it was one building and mainly cars from the BMC group. It’s really changed for the better, the new Jaguar building is really good and the upstairs holds the overflow from their collection which I actually found the most interesting. It was nice to see so many mundane cars which are now completely absent on today’s roads. Also nice to see some fast Vauxhalls, plus a 3.3 Litre Viscount which must now be super-rare.

I last went to Gaydon just before Covid hit, but I was judging at a cat show at the venue, so didn't really have much time to have a look at the cars - the show manager had me over a barrel!

Will be going back in the next few weeks together with a good friend who is a motor racing historian. We plan on booking some archive time, as we've some nerding to do. And I think he'll enjoy those mid-80s Jaguars.

Oh, that's useful to know. I get the funny feeling it's one of these places that you can't quite do in a single visit unless you rush, and then you just don't enjoy it.

If you’re going to Gaydon try Gilkes Garage Cafe just down the road in Kineton for a bite to eat, well worth a visit. Keith and his family run a brilliant business. it’s a regular stopping off place for my pals and I.
