Yes, yes and thrice yes. My Dad had 2 of these (bought with someone else's money, of course).

Following the usual pattern of cars he bought twice: the first one was sublime, the 2nd was an absolute dog; the dealer even put the wrong registration plate on the 2nd one. He went to pick it up after a service and said: that's not my car to which the dealer principal said....er....about that.

I worked at a Citroen dealership at the time these were out and the quality varied wildly.

The Gti's were great fun but then the turbo diesels were ok as well.

Typically quirky but nothing too wild

A rather nice Stag on the weekend. Looks like an everyday user car, thought still in rather nice condition

I would agree with the "Stunning Views" part.

I had a BX. Mine was a dog.

Faulty front suspension spheres. Could bounce me out of my seat on a bumpy road. Garage said it was ok but changed their minds when I refused to take it away again.

Faulty clutch linkage (which the garage couldn’t diagnose - AA man fixed it by welding it - an L shaped linkage had cracked and didn’t pull).

Dumped all its hydraulic fluid in the Lace Market carpark in Nottingham etc etc

I had a xantia which was a smooth car tbh. Handbrake was rubbish and it rolled down the hill.

Two new chassis and engines and one new body !

You could get new chassis for Triumph Vitesses and Heralds too, but I didn't pursue it in the end

EDIT: something I wasn't aware of till recently is that if something is galvanised it is problematic if it subsequently needs welding as the zinc fumes are toxic. Welders would drink milk as a supposed help but I think it would cause neurological problems. Maybe a reason to not select a galve'd chassis for such a vehicle?

Whenever welding galvanised, its almost a given you grind away the material around the welding area to remove the galvanising and expose clean metal, partly.because of the fumes (awful white smokey stuff) but also you get far better welds anyway

A G plate Citroen BX spotted on my morning ride.
It looked in very good condition and I would say regular use .

Theres a fairly early one round Peterborough but just a 1.4 which i could imagine being a bit underpowered. Driven new 1.9s (iirc) lovely cars to drive...not necessarily to own though
