.. a picking of brains please!
Do any of you have or know anyone who has a motor *trike* that can be ridden on car licence?
If so, what's been the experience in getting insurance?
I'm thinking of getting such a trike. Ringing the supposedly specialist insurer I think I got the office trainee... sigh.. so I'm not convinced that the information he gave me was entirely accurate.
Him - you do realise you can't take anyone pillion on this due to your licence (I've full driving licence + CBT).
Me - no, you're wrong - this *trike* can be ridden on car licence, you don't need motorcycle licence.
Him - err... I'll check with my manager. Errr... you're correct madam.
Him - you do realise you have no no-claims bonus as you haven't had motorbike insurance?
Me - How's that as this can be ridden on car licence and as I have had car insurance for zillions of years without any claims and have loads of no-claims bonus? Plus this isn't a motor *bike* it's a *trike* not requiring a motorbike licence & is treated differently to a bike.
Him - Err... I'll check with my manager. Err.. you are correct Madam - we can give you no-claims bonus.
Hence my lack of faith in the accuracy of statements from said office trainee The quote I was given didn't seem bad, but knowing that in the event of a claim insurers try to get out of their obligations as much as possible, I'd like to find out about others' experiences if I can.
Ta!
