She's not nearly as ubiquitous or as annoying as the little Scottish guy with the handbag from Coast.

Oh god, him and his bloody hair!

I quite like the accent, and he's obviously engaged with his subjects, but please, get a hair cut, or a rubber band. It does my head in watching it flying about in the wind, it would drive me crazy!

I keep meaning to explore access to thinks like iPlayer etc because the BBC et al does have some very good output. I'm geo-blocked as a rule (whereas I'm fine for ListenAgain on the radio). I realise it's all to do with marketing rights, licence fees etc, but some of these programs you don't really have a viewing alternative. It's not like I can nip off to the local store and get it on DVD!

I'm not geo blocked but find the iPlayer utterly annoying. It either starts buffering just as I'm getting interested, so then I'll download it, and after several 'up-grades' to the latest version of Iplayer, I'll download something only to be told it's 'expired' when i try to watch it... grrrrr.

Illegal downloads for me... they work!

I'm sure it's Frank Gallagher off Shameless.

Just watched the first episode on bones. Interesting, so we're long distance runners then. Why then, do I keep getting runner's knee every time I try and up my mileage?

Probably because you're running on a smooth hard unnatural surface, in shoes.

Humans evolved to run down animals across a savannah, so the gorund would vary in texture and gradient, there would be a fair bit of dodging rocks and holes and so on. I suspect that variety of gait would help to prevent repetitive injury. Also, there would be brief stops everyso often to check for trail clues and so on.

Even with my 'barefoot' running shoes and running on trails I tend to get knee problems

I must be regressing, evolutionary speaking.

Maybe, like me, you just have a knee injury?

I am much more capable of short bursts of high speed across flat, and very uneven ground on all fours if necessary, then I am for long sustained running on any terrain.*

I guess, in a tribe, I would be the one who walks ahead to set up an ambush while the rest of the tribe drives the food towards me.

*It is the same on a bike, I much prefer a quick sprint up a short, sharp hill then a long gradual climb.

One problem with Dr Alice is that when she got in to the freezing cold water on the wild swimming programme her nipples scratched the phosphor of the inside of my tele screen.

I tried barefoot for a very long time, but I just hated them. Did you get advised to try them by a doc?

No, just wanted to try anything to reduce injuries. I quite liked the shoes although they took a bit of getting used to. They're harsh on roads and pavements, but strangely ok on trails. They certainly harden up the soles of your feet.
