*sigh*

Put a CD in't tray, ripped it but it wont eject. It usually does it automatically. Pressed the button on the side, have tried to eject it through Media centre and through ..er .. the computer. It variously informs me that there is no CD in the tray and that it's using the CD at the moment so bugger off.

It's a FUJIFILM CD-R which a geezer recorded for me. He reckons he played it on a regular CD player with no probs although my car CD had trouble seeing it yesterday.

Any ideas? It's a DeLL Inspiron. There is a small hole next to the button on the carriage, shall I poke something sharp in it?

Any advice gratefully received.

Yes, poke the hole and it will open.

Have you tried going to 'My Computer', right-clicking the offending drive, and clicking 'Eject'?

Yes thanks, 43 times, to no avail.

I managed to resolve the issue by poking a stick in it. That's my kind of technology!

Ah, the ol' 'poky stick' approach. And if that fails, there's always 'percussive maintenance'.
