I wasn't sure where to put this, so apologies if it's not in the correct place!
I was phoning around for insurance quotes for my kit car. It's currently on a limited mileage (2500 miles) and one of the brokers I spoke to wanted to know what other vehicles I have access to. I explained I'm a named driver on my Wife's car and also my Daughter's (although she lives at a different address). The broker was quite abrupt and said 'is that your main car', to which I replied "It is our main car, my Wife is the main driver and I do more miles per year on my pedal bikes than I do in the kit car. She didn't seem to accept this, and I reinforced it with "I think the kit car did 1020 miles between MOT's in the last year. Years ago I had a similar issue (with a different kit) and a broker wanted the details of my other vehicle, so I gave the frame number of my bike. The broker said " we can't find that vehicle", so I explained what it was, and that I used it for daily commuting - They accepted it. Maybe times have changed? Do folk who walk, or use their pedal bikes or public transport all have issues with kit or classic car insurance on low- mileage? I'm more than happy to have my MOT mileages inspected if that helps.
Rant over.

Not having a car seems incomprehensible and unimaginable in this largely rural county, Somerset.

A neighbour introduced me to a family member, and said about me "...and he doesn't even have a car!"

Just brilliant. I love it.

1,020 miles is less than 2,500 miles. What's their problem?
If they're doubting the MOT, I'd give them the number of the test centre, after I'd informed the test centre that their statement on an official document was being questioned.

Try Adrian Flux - they are usually very good at insuring slightly out of the ordinary - I had a Peugeot 205 GTi competition car with a 2 litre 406 engine and a host of other mods and they had no problem insuring it at a very reasonable price with all the modifications declared.

I had a 1.6 205 GTI back in the day but remember how I envied anyone who had the 1.9 model. And then above that were the driving gods who'd gone proper mental and put an even bigger engine in from the 406!! It was like a bucket list build for any GTI owner.

Yeah, that is who I have my Camper Van insured with, that they were happy to accept as one even though it hasn't been re-registered as such with DVLA.

i do under 5k a year albeit in a boring of the shelf car.

I usually put about 8k on the insurance as it gives me headroom if I want to drive more, or like last year drive to South France.

It also avoids the questions about low milage.

My insurance came out at about £150 for the year in may after cashback
