That's because they took the engine out!

It'll be a long flight home then!

There's a guy in Elgin got a Buccaneer to deter folk filling up and driving off
This Canberra is WK163, the aircraft that holds the world altitude record. The guy on the far left used to be my boss in the mid 80s, he bought this and two other Canberras off the RAF in the early 90s. It flew the airshow circuit from about 1997 until a bird wrote off an engine in 2007.

I've sat in the cockpit of a Canberra and found it to be ridiculously cramped but that's as nothing to the navigator's position -

Suffice to say there is NOTHING that would ever entice me into that seat. The pilot can eject but the Navigator has to sit in a box waiting to die if anything happens.

How is he supposed to 'navigate' when the pilot can see more than he can?

I doubt you'd get more than a harmonica in there

Last saw that at a farm near me. Having been flown in.

Wasn't it somewhere up near The Raggalds??

Clarkson bought an old jet fighter. But the council wouldn’t let him keep it in his front garden.
It was a Lighning
Or, was it his wife of the time?

Anyone remember the sadly vandalised variant at the side of the A1, at Balderstone (east of Newark?)

How about Jacksons, at Misson?
There's a clue in the name, as to what it was.....'The Rocket Site'
If you scroll down, you'll see the original layout, with missile pads intact

It was the surface - air missile defence site, for RAF Finningley, a couple of miles to the west, & still has a Bloodhound missile on display!!
