Never been screwed by a big company and I can if I want do very well on less than 20 hours a week. So again you can see nothing like a job.

It strikes me that the school system is working back to front.
If it is the PARENTS that request the time slots with various teachers, then only the keen parents will attend.
Those that a teacher needs to talk to will not book a slot (or if they do, they will not be allocated enough time)

I also work in a youth organisation, we work the other way around,
it is the teacher that requests the parent to attend and gives them the time slot.
Kids with no issues do not get requests sent to parents except to turn up and they can ask questions in the milieu at the end
(Also we don't do the whole lot on a single day)

My kids school offer additional parents evenings.... you need a special invitation to attend those ones.... luckily I've not ever had one of those invites!

The one issue I noticed in year 7 and 8 was a parent in a wheelchair struggling to get along the corridors with all the crowds in (narrow 1950's building). I did think it would be nicer to organise a separate date for her to come in and have the teachers book slots with her. I haven't seen her the last few years so hopefully that is what they did.

Why do people struggle to understand that other people dont' have the same flexibility in their working lives?
Just because you can get to school any time of the day doesn't mean others will find it that easy.

The keen parents book up first and often these are not the parents I would really like to see. Under the old system, I could target the pupils I was concerned about and make sure they made appointments and for those who were doing fine but still insisted on seeing me, I could squish them up into half the appointment time. Now I generally don't get to see the ones I that might actually benefit.
From a parent perspective this is what we always found, little Jonny or Britney's who were top of the class, their parents took all the teachers time, the ones that could have done with the time couldn't get to the teachers

.

I've booked it off as holiday in the past, don't begrudge taking 1/2 day off for the good of my children..
