Pedals...???

I've only ever used spd's and spd-sl's they work for me but that's not to say they'll work for everyone.

i was looking to change my basic pedals to a cleat clip on pedal but have no idea which is best. It seems to be quite a specialised discussion on here but can someone point me in the direction of identifying which would be the best 'starter' pedal for me it would be much appreciated. I have a road bike if this helps
