So can witchcraft!
Salem Witch Trials of 1692.
I thought we'd moved on from this sort of thing.

Do we get the ducking stool, or tie him up and throw him in the nearest bit of suitable depth water. If he drowns he's not a witch, if he floats you'll get the stake.
Whence does this insanity spring? I didn't "accuse" him of epilepsy - that isn't a thing. Deja vu is a neurological symptom. Yes, it's a brain misfire; getting deja vu a lot does not mean one is a precog. If you get a neurological symptom "a lot" it might be worth talking to a neurologist. There's nothing radical about that.

(Though if you leap from "a symptom is connected to a disease" to "witch trials", you might want to get in touch with your own brain care specialist and make sure everything is ship shape)

Awaiting the appointment to see the epilpsy nurse, then the specialist, having seen the epilepsy nurse.

It's a condition that ignorance, of the sort you posted, that hasn't been easy live with at times.

Just check "witchcraft, epilepsy", then drag yourself into the late 20th century, when opinions started being changed. Epilepsy is not, nor ever has been a disease. You can't catch it from someone who has the condition.

I've been accused of being drunk, thereby deserving all I get. And four years ago, labelled by the system as a drug abuser. So that treatment for long term use(now 40 years) of anti epileptic medication could be started.

I'm no expert on the condition, just on how it affects myself from day to day. Stupid, outdated opinions like yours I can do without.

Edited to correct the spelling of "for", but added what is in italics.

Ask the armchair expert time.

What is this thing(epilepsy) that is a disease?
Have you knowledge that others do not. A fit/seizure is an abnormal eletrical discharge in the brain, to which the body responds/reacts, due to signals from the brain.

But that's the thinking of many experts the world over. Perhaps you'd be willing to share your expertise with them. You'd be infamous for classing it as a disease. A 100 years leap, backwards, in medical understanding of the condition.

Apologies for using "disease"* instead of "disorder" or "condition" But that's the only thing I apologise for.

ALL I said was there was a link between epilepsy and deja vu. If you have a problem with that, please take it up with the NHS

Symptoms of a simple partial seizure can include:

I never mentioned witch craft. Please read what I wrote, not what you imagine I wrote.

(@dave r, please click the link above, and consider talking to your GP about your deja vu.)

**Note: many diseases aren't contagious.

First question. Are you qualified to make a diagnosis of epilepsy, online and without any further evidence?

Your source, wiki, also puts a link between epilepsy and witchcraft. I do hope you're using something more reliable than this though. Although I doubt this.

What you have said, shows just how little you know of the condition you are telling someone else they may be suffering from. Most of which hasn't been heard since the 1980's and before

Given that 1 in 5 people will suffer a fit/seizure at some point in their life, should they all go and seek medical advice, from someone trained to give that advice. One fit/seizure does not, nor never has meant that a person has epilepsy. You're "advice" would be better ignored. Mention of the word epilepsy, even in the workplace, by an unqualified person can ruin a life. At one stage enough to annul a marriage. Even today, failure to disclose it to any employer can leave you out of work.

Question
Have you ever day-dreamed. If so, using your own diagnosive methods, I'd consider getting checked for epilepsy. There used to be, and in some places still are, strong medical beliefs that the two are connected. I last heard it said to me was in the 70's(1970's). Why? Because it could be an absence seizure. You see the same part of the brain is involved. In the same way the area used for memories was classed as a seizure type. Oddly it's the same area that connects deja vu, memory loss and epilepsy in many textbooks

With regards getting in "touch with my own brain care specialist and make sure everything is ship shape". I'm having to do this for something new to me, personally, CSF leaks. See what wiki says about those. At one stage it was believed to be the demons inside, that were actually trying to escape. Thankfully most people have left that notion where it belongs, in the past. The comment made by you is one similar to many made over the years, but seldom has that person said it to my face, within arms reach.

I was lucky! in that I was born with the condition. But I've still had to put up with what other people think causes it, what I should and shouldn't be allowed to do.

When you next walk through a city with this lot on your head, let me know how it felt and peoples reaction to it.

That's not me, nor was mine covered in the way shown in the picture.

I've not had to look this up, apart for the picture used, because I've only had to live with it.

You might want to check wiki for Van Gogh, Dickens, and "Flo-Jo"(died during a seizure).

JESUS!!!

I said he should talk to a doctor. That's all I said. I did not make any attempt to diagnose him. Saying someone's symptoms indicate that a conversation with a doctor might be useful is not saying he is a witch.

And I quoted the NHS. Please tell me what higher authority you would choose?

Jeff, if the thread title were changed to Pedancy and Gullability would you feel silly or relieved?

Read what you posted, then quote me. I've used the same initial source as yourself, wiki.

I doubt Jesus will answer you. Joan of Arc(one more name to check) got burnt at the stake for saying he did.

Neither. If classic is trolling me by accusing me of hate crimes, if he is undermining my heartfelt suggestion on another user's potential health problems for lolz? No that would make me feel neither silly nor relieved.

I'd also ask you not to call me Jeff.

sorry for trying to be helpful. I won't make that mistake with you again.

(I just made a tiny suggestion, and since them have been defending myself against accusations of calling you a witch; I never did, and never came close.)
