My Dawes Shadow I refer to as "the Dreadnought" rather than the Shadow, because it conjures up images of hugely thick steel, and unstoppable momentum. Whereas Shadow suggests something weightless that flits effortlessly, and doesn't suit the bike at all. And Dawes Dreadnought alliterates well.
I get told my SWMBO "You have so many bikes I've lost track"
And no, they don't have names. But they do have personalities; the Raleigh Team I'm using today definitely wants treating like a lady - no forcing levers with this one. You've got to be gentle.
My OH does not name his bikes, but has become resigned to calling one of them Jake - but only because it is a Kona Jake and the name is painted on the frame!
