Approaching perfection from a distance.
Hurrah! It's time for my favourite joke again, for the the first time this year.

You should never anthropomorphise inanimate objects, they do not like it.

On one occasion, at the age of 16, I dismounted half way up a hill and gave my 'misbehaving' bike a kick ( back wheel was rubbing on the frame).

My friend, the local Vicar's son, looked at me and said: " You shouldn't lose your temper with inanimate objects! "

I picked up the bike and threw it over the hedge.

My Dawes Shadow I refer to as "the Dreadnought" rather than the Shadow, because it conjures up images of hugely thick steel, and unstoppable momentum. Whereas Shadow suggests something weightless that flits effortlessly, and doesn't suit the bike at all. And Dawes Dreadnought alliterates well.

I was having this conversation with my SO last night. My Charge Plug is Charlotte Paige and the Focus Mares is Fanny May.

Legitimately refer to them as above all the time. I think I might have an issue.

I get told my SWMBO "You have so many bikes I've lost track"

And no, they don't have names. But they do have personalities; the Raleigh Team I'm using today definitely wants treating like a lady - no forcing levers with this one. You've got to be gentle.

My MTB is a KTM , couldn't be named anything but Katie M.

Reminded me of a joke years ago about a car given the exotic colour called Saluki Bronze, but known to it's owner as The Flying 5hite.^_^

Poppy - because she's red.

My OH does not name his bikes, but has become resigned to calling one of them Jake - but only because it is a Kona Jake and the name is painted on the frame!

I now call my bike "The Mean Machine".
Hoping for a new bike next year, will be named "The Time Machine" as will have waited a long time for it
