Ok, I couldn't do until now...

On Wednesday the OH said she said she had heard the dog and I thought it was a bit drama and stuff.

We had a row because I was upset that the dog did not come to me.

So, we went to bed and talked. All of a sudden this massive light came into the room. I asked Lisa if she had seen it and she said yes.

So, I went out the bedroom to look, thinking it was the solar lights. How? When they are in the ground?

So, I came upstairs and went to bed. Again, a massive light - like lightening.

Then I heard Petra coming up the stairs and I was scared, I told her to go back to her bed. It went quiet.

Another light, the brightest light I have ever seen - it was bigger than lightneing. I have never seen anything like the light, and I saw her lying by our bed.

I believe that people and pets souls go on......

If people think I am talking shoot, so may they but I know what happend that night.

That really has made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Reason being I had a similiar experience, not one I wish to talk about on a forum. I don't know what the explanation is and I don't want to, it felt pretty real at the time. I believe it Snapper and I can quite believe how it freaked you out.

I really do think your dog was letting you know she's fine. I went to see a clairoyant several years after my dog had died, and right at the end of the reading, she described him, gave his name and said he was in the room. I was so emotional, but a little worried about my other (dead) dog, so he went and brought her too, described again by the medium.
I think they popped in just to say hello

After our previous cat died (RIP the Proot ) we both kept seeing a dark shape coming into the living room. We assumed that it was The Proot coming to visit us, which was a great comfort. Then we moved house and the shape didn't come and visit again. Until a few weeks before Dinah died when it came again, just the once. We assumed that it was The Proot coming to have a quiet word with Dinah. Again, that was a great comfort to us. Sadly Dinah hasn't been to visit us, but then she's got her original owner, who had loved and looked after her for 18 years, to play with.

It all sounds a bit soppy, but hey, like I give a toss. Our dead cat came to visit us and this pleased meh.

When my mums mum died, she came into my bedroom one night and looked out the bedroom window. She said she looked down on the patio and there was her mum standing there looking at her.
Pretty spooky i think.
I think that the people who were in this house before us, died in the house. Or one did.
Anyway, not long after we had moved in i was up in the night and i went to the toilet. Coming out from the toilet there was a man that had just walked up the stairs. I looked at him and he looked at me. I thought it was my dad just come in and said hello then went back to bed.
It wasnt my dad:eek:
So no idea what it was really:wacko:
I beleive you Snapper.

Not sure whether i believe in God or not, but my mum's a bible basher (and a very sensible one at that) and she described it to me as thus:

most people believe in heaven and hell, therefore they believe in God and the Devil. Well the devil, he's a clever sausage he is, and it's his "job" to keep people out of heaven and away from God and the church, even if that means telling a few truths.

Anyway, he has an army of demons (fallen angels) and God has an army of angels (angels are male by the way, they are warriors). So the whole time around us there is a bit of a war going on, and these demons and angels are with us throughout our lives (like how some people believe they have a guardian angel, well you do kind of, but you also have a demon trying to distract you... the old devil on one shoulder, angel on the other scenario but a less comedy and a bit more serious).

Anyway, sometimes people go to clairvoyants and the clairvoyants tell em stuff about their dearly beloved departed and also tell them some stuff that might come true. This amazes people and they think, "that's cool, i'm gonna go back there coz she was defo talking to my [insert dead relative]"

But really what is happening is the clairvoyant thinks she is talking to dead person, but is in fact talking to a demon that knew the dead person. he's very clever the demon, he pretends to be the person, coz he knows him very well, he's spent the whole of his life with him. So the demon tells her a lot of truths and then what happens is, instead of that person turning to God in a time of grief, he/she goes back to the clairvoyant for comfort. Therefore the Devil's job is done. he has kept that person away from God and away from church.

The only "ghosts" are demons, they do it to distract us. Dead people's souls do not roam the earth.

i suppose what you have to do is decide if you believe we have souls and why you believe it. is it coz you believe in heaven and hell? if you believe in that, then you must believe in God and the Devil. and everything we know about God and the Devil comes from the bible, and this is what the bible says about it all. you can't take the bits that suit you, you have to take it all.

so take it or leave it, but to me (and i'm not exactly a bible basher but i suppose i do believe in something) this seems a much more sensible and reasonable explanation of it.

o yea, and animals do not have souls because only man was made "in the image of God" which doesn't mean he looks like him, it means he has a soul.

or something like that. but hey... don't let them demons get in the way of a good story eh?

ps... sorry about your dog. this is not meant to upset you by telling you i don't think your dog hasn't got a soul, but i don't think it has. what you believe is up to you though.

Buggi,

unfortunately the idea of the demons winning by keeping you away from church sort of gives the game away i.e. that is an interpretation with an agenda: to make people go to church. Going to church is essentially a religious thing and religion is, sadly, usually about one group of people trying to exercise power over others. If demons were behind alleged communications with the dead, they would surely try to make you do bad things as opposed to simply keeping you away from church which is a bit of an insipid objective at most.

I also suspect that the established churches really are worried by the idea of clairvoyancy etc. because if it is a real phenomenon then people have a direct line into the "spirit world" (for want of a better term) and so this undermines the church's monopoly on being the mediator between the real and spiritual worlds. A more sensible approach would be to investigat claims of psychic phenomena scientifically, which is what a number of organsiations try to do.

So if pets have souls, do horses? If horses have souls, do cows? What about monkeys? What about fleas? Do fleas have souls? Do they come back and haunt us?

There is no fence to sit on; you're either for or against therefor for the devil to win he need only keep a person from believing in God, not turn them in to a satanist.

The bible talks quite alot about the spirit world as doesn't dismiss that people can talk to the dead, it warns however that this is not healthy. I'm part of the God Squad, so you may well argue that i have an agenda. Could i recommend a very good book; The Srewtape Letters by CS Lewis, it describes that fight that does go on between Good and Bad, Heaven and Hell, Or God and the devil however you want to look at it. An author called Frank Peretti (spelling?)wrote Piercing the Darkness and also uses this theme.

Happy Easter! The real Christian Celebration, Christmas is pants by comparison ;):biggrin:

Unfortunately I regard the whole bible thing and theological argument as mere speculation, albeit speculation motivated by benevolent wishful thinking. It would of course be good news if the churches were right: the problem is that they haven't come up with any proof as yet. OTH there do seem to be enough reports of psychic phenomena e.g. reincarnations, hauntings etc. which at least provide specific allegations which can then be subject to proper investigation.

They come back as Season ticket holders at Premier League clubs ;)

Anyway two different interpretations in the same post which kinda proves the point about religion. Nevertherless, happy Easter Windy.

Meanwhile back to the theme.......

Good post Buggi. The Devil's number one aim is to keep humans from fixing their relationship with God. He can't fix his so continues in his attempts to be like God and draw people towards him. He doesn't like you, he doesn't like anybody, just wants the glory of your worship.

Most fortune tellers are fakes who use tricks to make you think they're talking to your loved ones. Some really can talk to 'the other side' but as has been posted, they are not talking to your relatives. God's word makes it very clear that there is 'a great gulf fixed' between the living and the dead and what they are actually talking to is lying spirits.

The human world is full of variety. There are nice, honest people and lying cheats. We are equipped with senses to talk to and see other humans yet we still make mistakes when assessing other people.

We do not have eyes that see into the spiritual realm. Few of us ever get the merest glimpse of it, yet those who do often take what they see at face value and assume it is true without any way whatsoever of validating it.

Do pets have souls? Personally, I don't think so. What the Bible teaches is that humans are different from all other created beings, including spiritual ones. They have a part of them that is made in the image of God.

You can think of it a bit like a cyborg. We have physical parts and spiritual parts, parts which you can't find in a autopsy. All animals do. Humans also have an additional part that is made in God's image. This part is eternal. That doesn't mean that we have eternal life, it means that it is not subject to the laws of time and space, it is spirit, and does not stop existing when the physical body dies.

Because this part is damaged and corrupt it cannot be in God's presence, yet it does not cease to exist after the body dies and it has no where left to live. It was originally designed to live in the human body and in God's presence so with neither, it's pretty screwed! Think eternal darkness' and 'bottomless pit' and you're begging to get the idea! Consciousness without any contact with anything else.

The only way to fix it is to go back to the manufacturer and get it repaired. A service which he's thankfully happy to provide out of love.

There is no indication that animals have an eternal spirit. I personally believe that when they die they cease to exist. I can't prove that but there is no indication from The Bible that they have an eternal spirit. Humans are fundamentally different from all other animals.
