Setting the controls for the heart of the sun.
As I commented to Mrs B when I came back from a 50k this morning, it's hard to remind myself in winter, when putting on two layers of socks, overshoes, bib tights, two upper layers and a jacket, plus warm gloves, that there are days like today, when shorts, socks and a short sleeve top, were sufficient.
An added bonus was no dickhead drivers.

Yesterday we went in search of a flat bit of Kent. Dusted off the touring irons, an 87 Raleigh Randonnuer and a 93 Galaxy. So a 42mile round trip from Dartford (ish) to Cooling. It's a bit lumpy getting there but nice open flat landscape once you are. Now I do not consider myself unfit nor am I super fit either by any means but have to say the first day of higher temperatures took it's toll! So boys and girls get those bottles filled and something in your back pocket ^_^
Put a note in your diary for the last Sunday in Jan. The club does a very informal reliability ride from Shorne, out round Grain and back.
Didn't run this year due to covid, so ask me nearer the time if running 2022.

As an Australian I find it hard to take seriously the notion of temperatures in the 20s being ‘a scorcher ‘. It is a bone of contention chez nous with Mrs Hoopdriver being very English and very much regarding temperatures in the 20s as a scorcher…
People are such sooks.

I'm a hybrid Pom/Aussie (two passports) and a few years ago I watched my daughter playing netball on a sunny 16c Perth winters day.

I was stood there in shorts, flip flops and singlet soaking up the sun and all the Aussie parents were there in overcoats and Ugg boots moaning about the freezing cold.

In Devon today, it hit 21c and all the people at work were complaining about it being "boiling".

Boiling is 40c in Port Hedland and freezing is -20c in Anchorage.

Everything in between is just normal weather.
