Photoshop enthusiasts - how was this done?

Randomly came across this as I was searching for images of Oosterscheldekering:

easy:

get mate to take position of your second self holding a piece of card

get in place, take photo

swap places with mate

take photo

piece both photos of yourself together blending them to transparent in the middle,

now using this image start applying it in smaller and smaller sizes to make the middle,

now link the frames up, possibly painting the frame in from scratch

Reminds me of "Alien", same principle, done with Photoshop CS4 and the Escher's Droste Effect Plugin (not by me I hasten to add!)
