I have always thought that those septum piercings look like bogies dangling.
I'm a blood doner, just done 89th, so if I even wanted a tat or piercing I'd have to wait 6 months for my 90th. Never have fancied that kind of body decoration.
I heard a story of a lad in my year at school getting his brother to pierce his ear. They used a hammer and panel pin on the wooden draining board. His brother hammered the pin through his ear into the draining board then went out leaving him there.

Was listening to something a bit back about tattoos, apparently the idea way back when was they told the story of your life, I’m sure they said an example was the swallow on the side of the hand above your thumb indicates you’ve sailed round the cape of good hope, and the name came from how the South Seas islanders did them with a sharp stick with the ink, and a heavier hammer type stick to hit the sharp one, with two sharp blows, they called them ta tou after the noise it made, sailors corrupted the name to tattoo

Both tats and piercings look ridiculous and I can never fathom why anyone should do them but if someone wants to do them then it's nobody's business but theirs.

i've always wondered what happens to the bigger tattoos as folk age - they must surely look bloody awful.
