Any experience of Planet X RT-58?

Looking to upgrade from my Carrera Ltd Edition Virtuoso 2012 which will most likely go to my wife.
I'd love a Specialized Tarmac or Boardman Team Carbon, but both are around the £800 mark.

I can pick one up for the £650 mark with following spec that's been upgraded.

Full specification:

Frameset:

Planet X RT-58 Alloy Road Frame / Carbon Fork with alloy steerer

Front Derailleur:

Tiagra FD 4600

Rear Derailleur:

Shimano 105 10 speed – super stiff for fast and accurate changes

Shifters:

Shimano Tiagra 4600 STI – precision shifting and adjustable reach levers

Chainset:

Shimano 105 Compact 50-34 T, 172.5 mm crank, 20 gears – lightweight anodized aluminium using a hollow design that minimises flex

Bottom Bracket:

Tiagra Hollowtech II - bottom bracket bearings are spaced wider apart enabling the use of larger bearings

Cassette:

Shimano 105 11-28T – close ratio hyperglide sprockets for a crisp and smooth shift

Chain:

Shimano Ultegra – directional design to optimise shifting

Brakes:

Shimano Tiagra dual pivot side pull caliper

Handlebars:

Planet X Road Bar Strada Shallow Drop / 42cm / Black / 31.8mm Clamp

Stem:

Planet X Superlight Team 3D Forged Stem / Polished Black / 6 degrees / 31.8 mm Clamp

Headset:

FSA Orbit C-40 No.42 ACB Tapered Headset / Black / 9 mm – integrated sealed cartridge bearings with stainless steel crown race

Wheels:

Axis 2.0 – 700 c – semi-aero performance with strong lightweight rims as used on Specialized Roubaix

Tyres:

Planet X Gutter Snipe, folding / 25mm

Saddle:

Planet X Superlight Team Road

Seatpost:

Planet X Superlight Team 3D Forged Alloy Seatpost / 31.6mm / Polished Black

Yes, they are local to me and build bikes from scratch, I am tempted to try it tomorrow night or Thurs and see how it feels.
Not sure what they have upgraded though vs one you can get off Planet X site

The Planet X RT58 with Sram Rival 22
http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/CBPXRT58ALRIV22/planet-x-rt-58-alloy-sram-rival-22-road-bike
was on sale over the weekend for £499, a bit late now I realise but they may do the offer again.
I ordered one for my wife.

As per above, they have upgraded the parts on the bike, so am tempted to see what it's like.
It's about 5kgs less than my Carrera!!!

I ordered the rt 58 on a whim at the weekend. Plan to move the groupset to another bike but will ride it first. Hopefully over the weekend if I have some pedals
I'll let you know
I'm a SRAM girl so personally wouldn't have bought it with shimano kit

The stock bike is around 9kg with shimano from what I read somewhere

Just trying to think if it's worth £151 more than the sale they had over the weekend.

My heart says to try it and buy it, but I'm debating whether or not to save for a few more weeks and pick up a 2nd hand Specialized Tarmac 2011 onwards which will be all carbon line up with possibly better specification Around the £800-£900?

Hi
Had my rt 58 a year now,I came from a triban 3,only difference from the current spec is mine came shimano r500 wheels.you will notice a big difference from the Carrera.i was facing the same dilemma, wish I'd gone for the pro carbon ,which they now have on at £999 in either ulltegra sram force,it's worth the extra £300 in my opinion.

I already have a carbon bike which will be the lucky recipient of the rival groupset
The intention is to turn the rt58 into a flatbar with the apex groupset off the carbon

Off topic but Anyone know how the khamsin wheel set compares strength wise to fulcrum 5s? Got a pair not coping with panniers, bad roads and erm my weight on another bike!

The shimano r500's are pretty bombproof but if your looking for 11 speed you cant get better than mavic aksiums for durability at that factory made price point
