We give our 13 year old daughter £15 a month pocket money, but she moans that that's not enough.

How much do you give yours?

My kids have all grown up now but I would give a girl that age £10 a week and encouragement to save a bit. I used to give my kids a savings jar for loose change. Worked quite well.

when i was just leaving school in 1985 i got £2 a week pocket money. I didn't grumble. My best mate at the time got a tenner a week and he did grumble! He now complains that his eldest is constantly moaning that 'he doesn't get enough' in spite of the fact his dad pays for the tax & insurance on his moped, pays his mobile phone contract and gives him a weekly allowance.

It seems the more they get given, the more they expect to be given.

If she wants more... she should earn it.

My 10 yr old gets 55p per school day. He has to do a few jobs and be a good boy to get it. He's not at age where he needs money to go out independantly yet. Time spent with mates is just playing out or in the park.

Depends what she's doing for the money I got nothing unless I did chores which basically included everything to do with a house & garden, and to top it up I had a paper round

Mine is 17 now, think he gets about £10 a week off his grandparents, and as for some time. From us he gets another £10 - £15 a week for his bus fares to college £15 mobile phone contract and his driving lessons. Oh and about £20 a week in petrol ferrying him around to his GF's. :smooch::laugh:

We pay our 13 yr olds mobile phone bill at £15 a month, his membership to the skate/bmx park (where he spends most of his spare time) at £31 a month and every weekend give him £10 to spend on a meal/drinks at the skate park. He saves any change he has and uses it during the week for whatever.

My son has just turned 13.
He doesn't get pocket money as such, but we buy him his weekly comic and some sweets (probably around £5 per week). His dad sorts out his mobile phone at £10 a month.
If he helps around the house/keeps his room tidy etc, then he will get (for example) a new game for his PS3.
He usually knows what he wants and how much it costs, so will work towards getting it, which can take a month, depending on the cost.

As an aside, I used to have to wash my dad's two cars for pocket money....two massive Ford Zephers lol
edited to add that then, that amounted to 50p
