WoW haven't times changed, I never got pocket money, the only time I had money was when I was 14 and did a paper round at 12/6p per week
Think the most I ever got was 30p a week..

I got 6d a week and earnt 10/6d a week doing a paper round from which I had to pay hire purchase payments for my bike which was 10/-.That left me a shilling a week. I was happy.

My son has had his name down for a paper round since he was 13. Lots of competition for paper rounds nowdays.

No pocket money paid here. We have a list of jobs with a tariff against them pinned to the fridge, the more jobs they do the more they can earn.

I like that idea... currently ours only get anything if they do stuff around the house over and above the normal chores. Eldest is 10. They don't really need it yet, but if they want something specific, Diablo's a while back they will earn a good chunk of it before we usually cave in and stump up the rest.

Hoovering downstairs is £ 1.00 however you would have to fight my teenage daughter for that and I wouldn't fancy your chances :training:

We got the idea from a friend as I was getting narked with them not doing anything and expecting money.

Last month we paid out:-
15 year old £ 32.00, 14 year old £ 8.00 and the 9 year old £ 4.00.

On top of this we pay for a mobile contract for the 2 eldest £ 10 a month. In addition to this the 2 eldest share a paper round (one of the freebies) and earn approx
£ 6.00 a week each

I like that idea, might have to remember that for when my two are a bit older.

At the moment we have a tick chart system for the little miss with things like making her bed, putting toys away etc. If she's got a full week she gets £1.50 to fill her sweetie jar up for the week, 3/4 of a week and she gets a reduced amount to spend and 1/2 or less she doesn't get anything that week.

I was originally in favour of this sort of approach, but I was worried about monetizing chores i.e. asking the kids to do something and getting the "how much will you pay me?" response. I want them to help around the house just because we're a family and should all pitch in together.

As it stands, they do help out around the house, although not always as much as we'd like and not always at the first (or third or fourth:cursing:) time of asking.
