I was originally in favour of this sort of approach, but I was worried about monetizing chores i.e. asking the kids to do something and getting the "how much will you pay me?" response. I want them to help around the house just because we're a family and should all pitch in together.
As it stands, they do help out around the house, although not always as much as we'd like and not always at the first (or third or fourth) time of asking.
You're right, it's trying to find the balance. Although from reading the posts above I'm starting to think we are a little light at £15 a month. This was the reason I abandoned it too, having begun this way. In fact you need to find a balance, which isn't always easy.

I shall mention it to SWMBO later and see what she thinks.
Slightly OT, I've seen SWMBO mentioned quite a few times on forums. What does it actually mean?!
Blimey £100 per month.My two children get a £40 lump sum once a month, £10 a week plus mobile phone contract of £20 = £100 a month
my six year old get 10p per spelling she gets correct, she has never got less than 80p and usually gets £1 per week.
Blimey £100 per month.
Do they have to buy their own clothes and tranport etc. or is that on top?
I would think being able to defy gravity is worth more than a quid. Or is it like a jetpack or some mini indoor helicopter?Hovering downstairs is £ 1.00 however you would have to fight my teenage daughter for that and I wouldn't fancy your chances![]()
