"I cycle for a reason"

No idea WTF that option is there for, but it best describes the reason I cycle, as none of your other options really cut it! Other than to make myself happy, which is usually short lived because whatever just happened, whatever time posted, position placed, it is not good enough for long.

Ah I didn't spot the multiple answers allowed bit. I voted 'cos it makes me happy.

I also do it despite having a car, it allows me if not to be fit then al least to eat what I want without worrying about getting fat.
I suppose explore kind of fits too. I can often go out of my front door or from work on a nice evening and simply go for a ride wherever the fancy takes me. Not training, no getting to anywhere, just riding around the next corner.

if i want to get from A to B, i can either walk, cycle, get a taxi, bus or train, ask a friend for a lift, etc... The bike is often the easy and logical option.

if I want to get out and see a bit of the glorious countryside, i can either walk, cycle, get a bus or train, ask a friend with a car, etc... the bike is often the easy, logical and most pleasurable option.

I cycle because I think my arse looks great in Lycra. I cycle because cycling's environmental credentials allow me to feel superior to other road users and pedestrians - more accurately described as a feeling of 'holier than thou'. I cycle because I can spend fortunes on obscure, unusual vintage componentry that no one, including other bike geeks, can tell. And I cycle because it gives me a sense of social inadequacy when out on the road surrounded by motor vehicles which feeds into my deep seated feelings of frustated jealous anger (that I can't afford what I really want; a new black 4X4 BMW) which leaves me permanently on the look out for a road rage confrontation.
