I'm now back home at last after a 21 day stay in hospital for an aneurysm op that usually expects a 7 -10 day stay, but there were complications.
The absolute joy of getting home to the GLW and her first rate cooking among other things ( ! ), our cats, my own bed and peace & quiet are beyond words - ! ^_^I'm now on my second week of the 12 week total, if all goes according to plan - ! Small daily improvements with the occasional minor setback, but positive thinking is helping a lot. :okay:
No driving and confined to barracks for the first month, but by far the worst is the clear instruction from my surgeon - NO cycling for the whole 12 weeks - !:eek::cursing::cursing:
Understandable as obviously cycling involves abdominal muscles so I'll just have to grin & bear that one - !

Best wishes for your recovery.

You'll be fit and ready to ride again in 12 weeks? Look forward to easterly gales in November!

After being banned from no more than gentle walks for weeks when I had pericarditis last year I feel your pain. It drove me nuts. I ended up going for s l o w bike rides on the local paths instead of walking but I was so glad to get the all clear to do proper rides again.

So GWS! This too shall pass.

@simongt assuming it was open surgery of some sort so they cut through your muscles to get to your blood vessels?

Seriously, do it take easy with your recovery, you may heal on the outside but your insides can take up to a year to stitch back together properly and for inflammation from healing to subside.

I am currently four weeks into a grade 2 sprain, the bruising is gone but I can’t cycle for more than 5 minutes without irritating the ligaments. It’s going to be a long recovery!

Indeed. A double aneurysm op, with the incision going from just below my sternum, around my navel ( ever thought what ever use is the navel after birth - ? Just a chunk of useless gristle - ! ^_^ ) and stopping just short of my willie - !
It's ruined my bikini line - !
Many thanks to all for your good wishes and I'm keeping a positive outlook on everything - ! :okay:
