When I walk into a pub, restaurant, snooker hall, cinema or whatever my phone is switched to OFF. I get sick to death of tuneless ring tones, text message beeps and the inevitable "Oh my God" yelled into a mobile at full voice.

Surely we can do without the damn things now and again? Some guy emailed Jeremy Vine on R2 this week to say the major problem his blind wife had when she was out with her guide dog was people walking into her because they were glued to a screen of some sort.

Presumably when they clattered into her, fell over her dog and said, Oh sorry, didn't see you because I was on the phone".

I'm sorry I can't be there now (almost Vuelta time) but here's one I posted from a pub a while ago: The Rising Sun in Leverington. Lovely destination for a weekend ride. The pint of Elgood's Cambridge had gone by this time and how the heck can you take a picture of the device being used?
