Nope, Generally avoid the puddles as there is usually a big hole in it. Crashing through puddles off road is OK on my MTB though !

It's not crazy fun, as a pinch flat and a bent rim aren't funny, especially if brand spanking new !:cursing:

Done my very first sportif on Sunday in torrential rain, hit a pothole very hard I couldn't see due to so much water on the road but thankfully no damage

The easy way to tell if it is a pot hole is this: is there a car coming the other way at exactly the wrong moment, forcing you to choose between running through the water or crashing into the vehicle? If the answer is yes, then it's a pot hole. If the answer is no, then it was probably just a puddle.

@MikeG That is so true and it made me laugh because I had to make that very choice, with the attendant result, on my ride yesterday. Just to add a bit of variety, it was under a railway bridge too, I guess the tarmac gets bad there because the water drips away off the bridge. Anyway, luckily as I felt the front wheel jar downwards I called on my off-road experience to pull a bunnyhop...Still upright, no harm done, just increased pulse rate for a bit...driver of car was a bit uncertain of what was going to happen next though!
