Prime Minister cycles 7 miles and faces criticism

Just watching the news and the media are criticising a 7 mile bike ride by the PM. Physical activity is encouraged for mental and physical health but obviously 7 miles is too far, heaven forbid we should do more than 30 minutes on a bike.

It's not the distance, it's the distance from his primary residence. People are instructed, by his Government, to stay in their local area. The guidance seems to define 'local area' as 'within 5 miles of home', which he wasn't. If members of the public are pulled up by the plod for exceeding the 5-mile limit, then it's only right that he should be criticised for the same.

They're not 'criticising a 7-mile bike ride', they're criticising a hypocrite.

I did 27 miles today; probably a good thing that wasn't the PMs mileage seeing as he's getting flax for just 7 miles.

The guidance does not specify how far from home you can travel. It says stay local, but does not specify what local is. Not saying I agree or disagree, just stating that the guidance does not specify a limit from home.
