So what do we think... Dressing in team / pro colours when you're not actually sponsored by said team. I.E, waring all specialized/giant/raleigh kit or whatever

Ok or knobhead thing to do?

I don't see anything wrong with it. It's the same as football/rugby/cricket etc., supporters wearing their team colours.

Your money, your choice. Personally I wouldn't wear pro-kit. I'm the wrong shape, wrong age and ride at the wrong speed. I think if you want to try and emulate the pro teams but cannot ride anything like them it looks a bit silly. Just my personal view. On the other hand you could be a supporter of the team just like supporters who wear their team's football strips when going to matches but don't play football.

It looks better, well some teams do.
I'm sure most cyclists where a mixture of kit from different makers aswell, depends on what you
like.
And the cost comes into it aswell.
Personally i go for items i like the look of although as some say its expensive.
I like the santini jiadai short sleeve jersey ss12 at £50 its a bit much for a top but looks cool.
I'm not keen on all the writing/ads on jerseys though, just the colour and pattern.

I've never seen that before! excellent.

So if you want to follow the rules laid down by a guy called Frank or Fronk (a Steve Martin film springs to mind - Father of the bride), then no team kit (said as tongue in cheek as I hope their website is).

Philisophically I couldn't give two hoots what people wear. It is the person that matters, however because we are quite a materially driven society (generally) we tend to learn and inherit behaviour from those around us. I am guilty of assuming that the guy on the cheaper road bike in baggies will be slower or less of a rider than the roadie in pro team kit on a carbon bike. In practise of course it is not always the case.

I would go with wear what you want.

I am impressed when I see a group of riders in their matching club kit go by though that looks really good.

I have team kit, helmet, socks... it matches my team coloured bike.
The team however no longer exists, so I suppose I could also say I do not have team kit

Never thought much about it other than it matches.

I have the odd few team tops, but my shorts/tights are all standard Santini. Likewise my gloves.

Such team tops as I own are a little ragtag: Euskadi Euskaltel, La Vie Claire and so on. None of it matches anything else I own.

Similarly, bar tape must clash with every other component of the bike.

As in all matters of opinion, mine are the only views with any validity.

Having said that, it takes all sorts and my day has never been ruined by another rider's decision to pass me in immaculate team kit and the correct shade of (uncannily clean) bar tape.
