My work go to a local pub on a Friday, EVERYWEEK. We moved buildings last year, and had to find a new local to go to. We found a lovely upmarket pub down the road which catered to our needs. However, we had the same issue with locals being served before us! Everyone noticed it when we went to order drinks and pub it on our tab. We ended up with the same tab number everyweek - we saw the same staff everyweek, and yet still the 'locals' were served before us! Even though we were regulars.
Before Xmas, the pub was closed for a couple of weeks for refurbishment so we moved to a branch of Beefeater. Whilst it is a chain, the staff ALWAYS know that we are from the same company(despite our small offices being 1-2miles up the road) and serve us in order we arrive! The service is always so much better and friendlier(they know how to smile). There can be anywhere between 5 to 25 of us so we consider ourselves valuable regular business to any local pub, any we know where we feel valued more!
Our MD likes the finer things in life, but much prefers the service of the chain pub!
