I've not hit anyone or anything almost ever but am tempted on occasions.

Part of it is fear I think, if they've really scared me then I do feel angry.

Don't forget the driver was the first party to make a judgement and then they decided to act on their judgement.

I don't think there is any rule that says a pedestrian cannot cross a road, even if its not at a pedestrian crossing. So the drivers judgement was wrong but not only that, they decided to menace Panther and his family with their car.

Panther has enough conscience to tell us about his action but what would have happend in the mind of the driver if they got away with that? Would they regret it or would their judgement be reinforced?

I remember a few years ago CCTV recorded a man crossing a street at night and the single car on the road swerved into them from a distance, ran them over and carried on. The man wasn't killed but he had broken limbs. The CCTV camera could not see the license plate and I don't know if they ever caught the driver.

Panter reacted, it doesn't have to make sense, I'm sure he'll react differently next time. It seems a lot of people on this forum have never had a 'moment'.

I agree, I know I have had plenty, I do not excuse Panter actions doing something that may or may not cause damage or hurt someone is generally a bad thing, having said that I have no doubt I would have done the same to the guy, but when you act like that you have to be prepared to take the consequences.

I did a bit worse to a couple of boy racers that were racing up and down my road at 6.30 pm on halloween last year. The road was full of kids trick or treating, when they stopped at a junction for a brief second, I had the door open for a not so quiet word and almost made one of them cry, his girlfriend lives across the street and I swear he still drives down our road as if he was taking his driving test.

You watch your back. You'll lose all the impact of the telling off if you then hobble away in the same bent over position you delivered the lecture in.

Just to make it clear, I did NOT hit the car in revenge, I Hit it because I wanted him to stop.

EDIT: Oh, and the chances of me causing any damage are remote.
I had no ring on, and I hit it with my fist on the edge of the boot as it skimmed past me.
To hit a BMW hard enough to dent it with my fist I imagine I would have broken my hand.
Still doesn't make it right, but I'm just saying.

Then why did you say "I sank my fist into the boot" on your original thread?:rolleyes:
Doesn't mean that our assuming you had damaged the car was right, but I'm just saying......we've wasted several days and pages debating the rights and wrongs of something you wish you actually hadn't done, that you hadn't actually done......

Because I posted that whilst still shaken. angry and upset and I grossly exaggerated it.
If I really could sink my fist through sheet steel I'd probably be making a good living in the circus

I regret hitting the car, that was wrong, and I've never said otherwise.

I lashed out in the heat of the moment due to the fear and sheer rage of someone threatening my family.

I hit the car in an instinctive lashing out reaction because I wanted to stop him, to drag him out and to scream into his face my fear and anger at his actions.
Or, of course, to beat him to death if he'd expressed anything other than a tearful remorse.

But, luckily, he didn't stop.

I will try and be a better person, but I honestly can't say the same thing wouldn't happen again in a similar situation if I find my family under threat again, as I fear I'm hardwired to react violently in those situations.

Maybe it will happen again, but next time I will damage the car or give the driver a beating.
Then, I'll be locked up, the driver will be free to drive around intimidating and threatening any lesser beings that dare cross his path, our wonderful justice system will have done it's job, and society can sleep soundly once more.
