Before I buy a load of parts that don't fit my new Pompino frame, hoping someone knows the answer to these:
1. Is there enough clearance for 28mm tyres and full guards?
2. Will that setup take mini v brakes on front and rear or should I stick with cantilevers?

According to the the on-one website it can take up to 32mm tyres.

You can get some road specific mudguards that are made for narrower clearances which will fit that that frame. I use these and they are great; really slim fitting and come with some nice long ends (not shown) to keep spray off other road users, and yourself.

You may have noticed that is not a Pompino... i thought I'd offer some advice anyway.

I have road racers for my road bike but I want to go for something more 'proper' and permanent as it has all the mounts.

I'm just wondering if a combination of 28s, full guards and mini-v's is going to cause space issues (like, will the brakes fit over the guards properly).

There is a thread on the same-ish subject here. As I mentioned I got on better with tektro mini-v's plus a travel agent on the rear, and a cantilever brake on the front. For the rear mudguard I used a spacer from my bits box to get the guard below the noodle, cable etc. I am pretty sure it will take 28's, there's still enough clearance. I'm going to fit conti 28's on soon anyway so I'll find out!

Just wondered if you have a rear brake cable hanger on your frame - newer pompino frames seem to have this.

Thanks Jim, I did find the other thread but missed your photo, your setup looks like what I'm aiming for.

It's a brand new frame (like the one in the picture on the link) so has the rear cable hanger, the brakes was looking at are these which say they are fine with road levers without any travel adjustors.

Will be fitting M+s, not yet decided between 25/28 though.

I think if you went for the Pompino steel forks there should be plenty of room. I have Alpina touring forks and normal caliper brake and frankly the lack of clearance is a little scary even with 23's on - all sorts of nasty scraping noises when bits of grit etc get pulled in. This is more to do with the brake than fork. There's plenty of clearance at the rear. If you have a look at the built Pompino Sport on the On-One site it has 32's on and there looks to be plenty of clearance

As mentioned have caliper brake on the front but when first built it put a Tektro Mini V on the back with bar end lever. I found I needed to put an in-line barrel adjuster to be able to get decent stopping power and also slacken off enough to be able to unhook the cable to take off the wheel. Taken the rear brake off now as riding fixed and never use the rear brake (and it looked a bit ugly!).

Hope this helps

I have gone for the matching forks, it's all about the colour scheme. Will be running brakes front and rear as I'm going for single speed over fixed, it'll be my one bike I can ride in normal shoes.

I plan to run road levers, most likely Tektro RL520s, hoping that the "quick release" button gives it enough slack to work round the Mini V issue. Really don't want cantilevers, they definitely look ugly!

Of course, Marathon+s mean I'll never ever have to take the wheels off
