I went to church this morning. The preacher said a lot of professional footballers were Christians these days. He said when he was growing up there was only one Christian professional footballer and he was as uncool as could be. So who was that? I think the pastor said he was 46, so he was born in 1980. Therefore, this footballer would be playing in the late 80s or 90s, probably.

Ah the quarry! Many an episode filmed there. It wouldn't surprise me if the BBC leased some buildings near by and had an arrangement with a hotel.

Possibly no longer, given Doctor Who has been cancelled.

That's got to be Gavin Peacock.

The BBC turned down my script for Dr Who and the Topless Volleyball Team Save Christmas.

It would appear the BBC would have preferred a female volleyball team. Killjoys.

I have been watching a bit of The Big Bang Theory recently. I understand the characters are geeks and nerds of all stripes. I understand Sheldon is autistic. I understand that they are scientists and engineers, but that they enjoy geeky activities in their spare time, such as comics, Dungeons and Dragons, and science fiction TV series like Star Trek and Dr Who. What I don't understand is how Sheldon's character could stomach the completely rotten science in some of those sci-fi series. I couldn't stand the risible science in Dr Who (as well as its horrible wokeness). Star Trek the Next Generation used to irritate me with its technobabble (as well as its horribly contrived plots). If they annoyed me they must have sent Sheldon nuts.

Perhaps the only other choice for Sheldon to watch was something like Love island which makes Star Trek very watchable. ^_^

(speaking as a massive BBT fan...) this is actually a really good point!!!

Of course the real reason is: it would mess with the show's social dynamic i.e. they all robustly defend their beloved programmes, and get irritated when Penny (or other "norms") either mock them, or fail to understand them.
A possible "sensible" answer; if they're like me, they grew up with some of these things, and they actually encouraged their love of science. So perhaps their instinctive affection for the shows blinds them. Who says Geeks don't know true love?!?

Why do companies like Coca-Cola and McDonald’s bother spending millions on advertising at the World Cup?
Surely everyone knows them by now. It would be an interesting experiment for a major company to spend £0 on advertising for a year and see if it has an effect on sales.

I've often thought that. They sell billions of product every week (day?) so why bother trying to increase sales with ultra expensive ad campaigns? I guess they still have competitors like Burger King and Pepsi but they've always lagged behind anyway. I sense that shareholders might have something to do with it
