Not a political question, so don't start!

I've noticed that when Donald Trump signs an Executive Order his signature is a) huge, and b) very dark/dense.

So my questions are thus;

How does he fit his signature on a cheque, and does he use a NOBO marker pen or a fountain pen with an enormous nib? We need to know as curiosity is piqued by such inconsequential matters.

Why do the BBC still have non HD channels?
Is there any one who doesn’t have an HD TV now?
It’s been a thing for 20 years.

I suspect they have to broadcast SD for a certain length of time so they're not descriminating against those with older Telly's. My parents have a fairly expensive Sony 4k yet I used to always catch them watching the SD channel!

On a similar vein, when the WW2 emergency coastal battery at Freiston Shore was completed, it was realised that the pair of 6" guns that had been installed didn't have the range to reach any enemy vessel that was able to approach in the deepwater area off said coast.

If coastal erosion is a yard a year in some places, how come the whole country hasn't fallen into the sea? At a yard a year it would take 1760 years for the coast to erode one mile, but if we believe scientists, the planet is 4.5 billions years old. Even in one million years the coast would have come inwards about 600 miles. That is practically all of Great Britain. In ten million years every continent on earth should have fallen into the sea.

Earth was in the grip of an ice age 450,000 years ago ice stretched right across the North Sea from Britain to Scandinavia. Low sea levels meant the entire English Channel was dry, a frozen tundra landscape crisscrossed by small rivers much like modern day Siberia.

etc etc. Current erosion rates doesn’t mean it was always thus. Plus some erosion is due to man made changes to the coastlines.

Now, I know that plastic glasses are used in certain places, but why does glass persist so predominantly?

Not only is it inefficient (risk of breaking), but it is also dangerous.

I appreciate that plastic degrades, but is glass really the most robust substance out there for such a high wear use?

Quite right

I remember years ago - when I used to go out drinking
some pubs in the city centre used to switch to "plastic glasses" after about 9 p.m.

when they started doing that we would stop taking used glasses back to the bar when we went for the next round
then when the round came back in "plastics" we would all tip it into the proper glass

2 skills were critical

firstly the ability to remember which was your glass
second and most importantly - the ability to pour a pint from one glass into another
without adding to the head
without reducing the head
without spilling a single drop

the beer pouring expertise was also important when you were at the point where you needed to
"just have a half"
the honourable thing to do was to drink your pint until there was room for the newly arrived half then pour it into the pint
NO SPILLING ALLOWED


one bloke ended up moving down to London to be with his girlfriend
his new friend down there were so amazed that they would only buy him halves after the first pint so they could watch him pour the half into the pint glass and get it perfect every time
this was just a required skill in Liverpool!!!
