Is the correct pronunciation Hater or Hay tor?

You do know that British standard plug sockets run between 220V-240V?

Really? I thought it was more of a ‘saunter’.

The UK mains supply is 240V.

In 1995 the specification for appliances to be sold throughout Europe was set at 230V +10%, -6% (216-253) so that the same appliances will work across Europe without modification, and without anybody having to change their supply voltage. In 2003 it was further widened to 230V +/-10% (207-253).

Historically the tolerance on UK mains was +/-6% (226-254), but once the new appliance spec had been in force for a while, legacy appliances were presumed gone, and the specification for the mains was changed to 230V +10%, -6%, in 2002. There was still no change in the voltage generated, however, it was just done so that they could allow a higher voltage drop on the lines. There are proposals to take advantage of the full tolerance on the appliance spec, and widen the supply tolerance accordingly, but that's still just a change in what's permitted, not a change in what's actually generated, and not necessarily any change in what's supplied.

This is a plot of my mains voltage from 7.9.23 measured with a power meter and a DMM, including both the nominal voltages, max & min spec limits, and tolerance limits for the two instruments:

It's definitely the latter. I live near there. It's just another Tor, as in Sharp Tor, Rippon Tor, Bel Tor. The 10 Tors is completed every year which is a mammoth hike that covers 10 of the tors. It's Dartmoor's version of fells

That's what I was assuming, but as some of the BBC persisted with 'Hater' after they'd had ample time to check, it made me wonder.

Why is the 'More to Explore' section of my Ebay app suddenly flooded with suggestions for vapes? I'm not a smoker and have never once searched for vapes for sale anywhere.

To stop tracking, I always search for items while logged out on the main PC making a note of the item number and then clear cookies, search & device history before either logging in on the PC or using the app to search for the particular item I'm interested in. Once done I clear the viewing & search history again so the only things it should show me are items similar to anything on my watchlist (a couple of bikes ATM). So why vapes?

Wow that’s a lot of effort, why not use an adblocker extension or dns service https://adguard-dns.io/en/public-dns.html

I do run adblockers, but these aren't adds, they're suggestions supposedly based on your search history and tracking cookies. It only takes seconds to use the 'Clear recent history' on Brave.
