Have just watched Noakes and the sailors climbing the mast of HMS Ganges.Quite amazing,astonishing discipline and courage.I remember watching that as a boy,I find it remarkable still.

Yes, mine too :sad:. I thought the BBC were a bit mean not to let him keep the dog after he left.

Shep remained the property of BBC but lived full time with Noakes until he died. They even starred in other BBC programmes such as Go with Noakes.
The only terms that the BBC imposed was that Shep could not be used for commercial gain. So no adverts were allowed. But Shep was his dog in all but name.
